Leadership philosophy

I am committed to excellence and access through engagement and shared leadership, serving as a catalyst for creating the future of the academy. To build capacity for transformative change, I embrace mission and values, engage others in interpreting the reality of major shifts underway, and execute innovation and new strategic direction.

I have a deep affection for learning, a “students first” principle, and a “make it work” attitude. As a professor of writing studies, I study the language and transactions that occur through networks of individuals engaged in mutually supportive, innovative work. Throughout my 15 years in higher education administration, I have fostered partnerships and organizational innovation across traditional boundaries because I believe these to be imperative to institutional sustainability.
